The long awaited Met Gala 2024 is just around the corner, in honour let’s recap some of the most eye-stopping gowns over the years💃🏼 This year Anna Wintour is co-hosting “The Garden In Time” with four celebrities; Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth. The Met Gala will be celebrating the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”, which will consist of around 50 “historically significant” pieces, that are too fragile for use ever again. The items will range from the 17th-century era all the way to an evolved 21st-century approach. Techniques on how to revive, ‘fragile’ fabric will be discussed and experimented on at the exhibition. The black tie fundraiser is known for its success of raising over 8-figure sums annually for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Around 600 celebrities attend the event, however, it’s an unknown secret of what the event consists of but here’s what we do know: a high profile artist, dinner and of course, exploring the exhibition itself. New CEO for Balmain! Balmain appoints Matteo Sgarbossa as CEO effective from the 6th May 2024, succeeding Jean-Jacques Guével who stepped down in March this year. Sgarbossa joins from Givenchy, where he was international director and prior to that he held roles at Kering group, as VP of retail for Europe and also as a retail director at Mango. Fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has died aged 83 on 12 April in his home in Florence, Italy. Cavalli was an incredible designer and best known for his animal prints on leather and textiles, as well as his hippie dresses. He set up his name sake company in the 1970’s which saw his first shop opening in the French city of Saint-Tropez in 1972. Cavalli’s designs have been worn by stars such as Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren and Jennifer Lopez. According to Sergio Azzolari, CEO of the Roberto Cavalli company, the founder’s legacy will remain a “constant source of inspiration” for years to come.
