Ralph Lauren takes a bow as it hosts an intimate runway show in NYC. 100 guests attended the Madison Avenue skyscraper, home to the Ralph Lauren HQ, including Anna Wintour and Glenn Close. The show completely demonstrated that the brand’s quest to elevate its image — and prices — is finally paying off after best part of a decade. Christy Turlington opened the show in a monochromatic greige shirt, tie, trousers and overcoat, to the sounds of Billy Joel’s Just the Way You Are. In the accompanying show notes Ralph Lauren stated “The woman I design for has a beauty that comes from an inner confidence…..She’ll throw a hand-tailored jacket over a glamorous evening dress. Puig setting to price IPO at top of range! Spanish beauty group Puig who own brands including Paco Rabanne, Charlotte Tilbury and Carolina Herrera will list at the end of this week and are aiming to reach a market capitalisation of close to €14 billion ($15.01 billion), according to Reuters. Any bids from investors coming in below €24.50 were at risk of missing out according to terms from Puig’s bankers. Puig aims to price its IPO on Tuesday 30th April, with a view to start trading on the Spanish bourse on Friday. @miumiu Sales Jump 89%, Boosting Prada Group figures for Q1 in 2024 Considered Miuccia Prada’s “playground” she founded Miu Miu in 1993. The brand has developed substantially from its origin as Prada’s sister becoming an incredible label in its own right. The recent 89% jump in sales follows the previous year’s 58% increase, illustrating amazing growth for the fashion house. The long awaited Met Gala 2024 is just around the corner, in honour let’s recap some of the most eye-stopping gowns over the years💃🏼 This year Anna Wintour is co-hosting “The Garden In Time” with four celebrities; Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth. The Met Gala will be celebrating the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”, which will consist of around 50 “historically significant” pieces, that are too fragile for use ever again. The items will range from the 17th-century era all the way to an evolved 21st-century approach. Techniques on how to revive, ‘fragile’ fabric will be discussed and experimented on at the exhibition. The black tie fundraiser is known for its success of raising over 8-figure sums annually for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. New CEO for Balmain! Balmain appoints Matteo Sgarbossa as CEO effective from the 6th May 2024, succeeding Jean-Jacques Guével who stepped down in March this year. Fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has died aged 83 on 12 April in his home in Florence, Italy. Cavalli was an incredible designer and best known for his animal prints on leather and textiles, as well as his hippie dresses. He set up his name sake company in the 1970’s which saw his first shop opening in the French city of Saint-Tropez in 1972. Cavalli’s designs have been worn by stars such as Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren and Jennifer Lopez. According to Sergio Azzolari, CEO of the Roberto Cavalli company, the founder’s legacy will remain a “constant source of inspiration” for years to come. Mary Katrantzou Is Bulgari’s First-Ever Creative Director Of Leather Goods And Accessories. Greek-born Katranzou who has her own business based in London made a name for herself straight out of Central Saint Martins, specialising in the then-new medium of digital placement printing and with a fascination in jewellery. Her new Bulgari remit extends from leather day bags to silks to one-of-a-kind or very special high-jewellery bags. “When does something change from being considered adornment to being functional and what can we do in that in-between space?” Katrantzou asks “That’s where the mind-blowing Bulgari archive comes in.
